About Us
Our daycare center was born out of the desire to create a place where children are seen, supported, and empowered in their uniqueness. It all began in 2020 with a conversation over coffee and cake in Berlin's Wedding district – a group of parents who shared the same vision: a daycare center where all children are welcome, where diversity is embraced as a strength, and where community and participation are central.
From this idea, an association was formed. From the association, a building group emerged. And finally – after much personal initiative, renovation, and dedication – a real daycare center. Since the beginning of 2024, we have been operating "Auf Augenhöhe" (On Equal Footing) in our lovingly designed, barrier-free premises in Berlin-Moabit.
Parents’ initiative means: Shaping the future together
As a parent-run initiative, our daycare center is a place of vibrant community. It not only offers children a safe space to play, learn and grow, but also gives parents the opportunity to actively participate in and shape daycare life.
What makes our facility special is the close collaboration: parents contribute their ideas, skills, and time – whether on the board, in the various working groups, or through direct communication with the team. The board, comprised of parents, handles key organizational tasks such as finance, personnel matters, and communication, while working groups cover practical areas like maintenance, recruitment, IT, and events. Every contribution counts – and makes our daycare a place that is supported and developed collectively.
A special element is the principle of "one for all": Should staffing shortages arise, parents step in flexibly and provide short-term support in daily operations. Even though the goal always remains to ensure stable and well-staffed childcare, this principle demonstrates the exceptional cohesion and willingness to support one another.
This creates a vibrant, family-like place where everyone involved learns from each other, supports each other, and creates an environment where children are not only cared for but also supported as part of a strong community.
